Can I come to your store and just look at your products in-person?
Unfortunately, no. I only make appointments for firearm transfers and purchases.
Is
it OK if I bring my friend with me to my appointment?
If you want to bring someone with you to your
appointment, you will need to check first. You will need to indicate who you are bringing and why
that person is coming with you prior to your appointment.
Please remember, attempting to purchase a firearm for an individual who is prohibited from possessing/owning a firearm is a felony and you can receive up to 10-years in prison.
I thought AR-15's and AK-47's were illegal in California?
Thankfully, no. Many makes and models of AR-15's and AK 47's (and many other semi-automatic rifles) are perfectly legal to own in California as long as they are properly configured to meet our State's laws. Our laws are a little complex, so it's a good idea to read up on them before diving into your first AR, AK or other semi-automatic rifle purchase. Rather than attempting to rewrite great information found elsewhere on the web, take a look at the Calguns AR/AK Identification Flow Chart to find out what is legal and what is not. If you still have questions, just send me an email or give me a call. Bottom line, everything I sell or transfer must be legal in the Golden State-absolutely no exceptions.
Can I get an AR-15 pistol or MAC 10 in California?
Well you can, if you purchase it in a single-shot format--meaning you have to manually load each shot in the pistol after it is fired. However, once the 10-day waiting period is over, you can take your single-shot home and legally convert it back to a semi-automatic pistol very easily (usually by removing a screw or two and replacing the single-shot magazine with a normal magazine). Not everyone wants to deal with these pistols, but I am happy to sell, transfer or order any single-shot pistol that is legal to own in California.
Can I use high capacity magazines in my AR-15 or single-shot pistol?
It depends. If you build a "featureless" (go to the links above if you don't know what this means yet) then you can use high capacity magazines that you personally owned prior to 2000. However, it is illegal for civilians to buy, import or build new high capacity magazines in California. If your AR-15 or other rifle is equipped with a "bullet button" (preventing the release of the magazine without the use of a tool) then you can only use 10-round magazines. For single shot pistols: if the "magazine well" is inside the pistol grip, go ahead and use those high-cap magazines you owned before 2000. If you have a pistol with a magazine outside the pistol grip (e.g. AR or AK pistol) , then a 10-shot magazine is your max.
Our State's laws are confusing. Can you help?
Yes, they can be a little confusing, but I am happy to do my best to help you out. You can also get plenty of official information on-line from the California Department of Justice.
